Dr. Carlos Blaschke
Carlos Blaschke, MD. Director of Clinical Research at the University of Miami, Diabetes Research Institute.
Dr. Blaschke’s academic and professional journey has been devoted to understanding and combating type 1 diabetes. Trained in medicine and clinical research, Dr. Blaschke has the privilege of directing clinical research and leading studies. He has also coordinated the development of complex trials, including the landmark teplizumab T1D prevention study, which ultimately led to FDA approval.

PhD in Medical Management and a Master’s in Gastroenterology from San Martín de Porres University, where he also earned his Gastroenterology Specialist Title. He completed a Fellowship in Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy at Karolinska Hospital (Sweden), specializing in EUS for GI tumor staging and FNA biopsies of the mediastinum, pancreas, and lymph nodes. His research focuses on submucosal endoscopic dissection for early GI cancer, advanced ERCP, GERD interventions, and GI bleeding management. With expertise in stent placement and intragastric balloon procedures, he integrates clinical practice and research to advance precision medicine in endoscopy.

Dr. Atil Kargi is a clinical endocrinologist specializing in diseases of the pituitary gland including pituitary tumors, hypopituitarism, Cushing’s disease, Acromegaly, Prolactinoma, Adult Growth Hormone deficiency, and vasopressin deficiency (AVP-D), formerly known as diabetes insipidus. He is the Co-Director of the UNC Pituitary Tumor Center and a Professor of Neurosurgery and Medicine.
Dr. Kargi’s research interests focus on better understanding the biology of the pituitary gland and its hormones. He is also interested in improving diagnostic methods and medical therapies for patients with pituitary disorders.

cardiovasculares, con interés en insuficiencia cardíaca, valvulopatías complejas, enfermedades del pericardio e hipertensión pulmonar.
Dr. Barcena is a native of Colombia. He graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. He completed residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed additional training in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. Dr. Barcena holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. Dr. Barcena specializes in General Cardiology treatment and prevention with a particular interest in heart failure, complex valvular heart disease, pericardial disease and pulmonary hypertension.

Diana Torres is a molecular geneticist with a Ph.D. and a postdoctoral degree from the "German Cancer Research Center – DKFZ" in Heidelberg, Germany. She currently works as a full professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá and as the Business Manager for Latin America at CeGaT, a renowned German laboratory specializing in genetic diagnostics.
